EDGE COMPUTING NETWORK ARCHITECT

Our client, a large internet / software company,seeks to hire the newly created position of Edge Computing Network Architectfor the companyÕs new Edge Computing Group.  With a location preference of somewhere on the West Coast,and reporting to a GM, this person will be responsible for leading and drivingthe architecture, development and deployment of a next-generation softwareinfrastructure  for a worldwidedata center operation serving over 150 online businesses.  This person will have a major impact onthe architecture of the network, the development of product features, andgenerally upon edge computing worldwide.

The ECN Architect will be a key stakeholder indetermining overall product strategy and will provide overall / end-to-end technicalleadership, mentoring and evangelization. This individual will drive innovation in network features andcapabilities that lead to competitive advantages in the market. 
The  ECN Architect will also manage theother architects in the ECN architecture team; and develop strong collaborativerelationships with Network Engineering and Data Center organizations to ensurenetwork scale, performance and efficient operations. Utilizing a deepunderstanding of the market, industry and competitive trends, he or she willalso serve as a key evangelist for ECN. 

Other responsibilities include driving strongpartnership activities with online product groups to ensure the network meetskey current and future service and geo-distribution requirements, ensuring effectivecost analysis and attracting top talent to help build theorganization.

Responsibilities

• Assume the mantel of resident expert and leader in developing a completely new area for intellectual property (IP) licensing. Coordinate market research efforts, identify potential strategic partnerships within broadcast, film, music and/or photographic/graphic media, and drive go-to-market strategies and tactics with the aim of extending the company's services into one or more of these areas.
• Own responsibility for the lifecycle program management of the new products and services that are brought to market, and be the key leader and resident expert for new media licensing services.
• Develop business plans and product positioning, including assessment of potential markets, and perform "hands on" market research through trade shows, client visits and personal networking.  
• Drive all requirements through the development process to operational execution; negotiate timelines, scope and features with internal/external stakeholders.
• Manage planning, product creation, product structure and product rollout.
• Develop and assume ownership of the product roadmap in line with overall strategy.
• Initiate competitive analysis to ensure detailed and up-to-date profile of the competitive landscape.
• Once launched, maintain products, track feature requests and deliver enhancements; and define track and improve key product metrics.
• Estimated travel 25%.

Qualifications

• Proven experience and strong familiarity with the broad media industry is critical. 
• 5-7 years of product management experience required.
• Experience with content licensing and new channel creation is a plus, as is a proven track record in starting and managing successful product lines.   
• A strong communicator and presenter with excellent writing skills.
• Must have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and secure a personal network of leading media contacts.
• The vision, drive and passion to evaluate and build from the ground up a new media enterprise within the company.
• Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred.
